More than you can handle?

Has anyone ever said to you, "God won't give you more than you can handle."  I am guilty of saying this very thing to individuals who might be going through a tough time, in order to give them encouragement.  I now know, I was full of crap.  God will definitely give you more than you can handle!  That's the point.  If He only gave you what you could handle, we would not need God. Right!?

It is through those Tough times that we realize, and rightfully so, we do not have all the answers.  We do not have enough control, power, or command of this world to handle life's biggest challenges.  Why has it taken this long for me to get this.  In this way.

I guess I have never been in a situation where I was involved in a litigation, facing environmental issues (that were not caused by me), a fire (also not caused by me), and having to deal with compounding financial issues from said items.  Not to mention wanting to focus on my career to get it where it needs to be.  It is the days that I say "I can do this" that seem to be the toughest.  Not because I don't believe I can, but because at the first instance of something unforeseen, out of my control, that happens I fold faster than a seven two off suit in texas hold'em.

So what's the answer?  No, I do not have all the answers, and if I did, I probably would not be able to follow through with my own advice every, single, day.  But the start is, "We can do this".  The start is knowing someone else is by your side that loves you and cares for you.  The start is realizing regardless of what happens next, you rely in a superior being that is all knowing and accepting of whatever I am going through. Huhhh.. Some might be thinking what is that all about.  One liner alert... When you give God an inch of faith, He will give you a Foot.  A foot of grace, peace, love, and joy that is way beyond whatever you might be going through right now, 2 weeks from now, or in your entire life.  He will also give you a foot to stand on when it seems impossible to stand.  He will be your comfort and your vent that will probably explode a time or two.  It's ok if it does...

"How do I do this", you might be asking?
1. you first have to acknowledge you might not have all the answers, and that there is a God who does.
2. you have to accept Christ died for your sins.  He died for you before you even cared about Him... Romans 5:8
3. communicate with Him. pray.
4. Get to know Him better. read his word. the bible.  Not for His sake, but for yours.  He has given so many promises and decrees over your life, it's best if you know the power you have.
5. Repeat 1-4 as much as you can!

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." 1 John 5:11-12

Hope this helps and encourages you.  I did this to help myself walk through some difficult times.  I am going through the book "Growing in Christ".  This is just my outward thoughts while going though this process. Thanks for reading...
